Sensible Crampons

All I want for Christmas is a pair of sensible crampons.

Currently shopping for another pair of crampons, and have realized I’m approaching this the way some women buy heels.  Maybe I never really got the heels thing because I’m 5’9” so it just didn’t make sense.  Or I’m too much of a tomboy, I don’t know.

But anyway, I find myself online and crampon-shopping.  I do have one pair of crampons but they are a general mountaineering crampon and just aren’t that suitable for vertical ice, which I hope to be climbing a lot of this winter.  Am considering getting the Petzl Lynx: They have more aggressive frontpoints than my current crampons and will therefore be better at sticking in vertical or semi-vertical ice.  They also look like a good option because they can have both dual- and mono-point configurations.  I’ve been itching to try using some monopoints but it would be nice to have the flexibility go back to dual when needed.  Not to mention they have interchangeable toe bails–you can have either the metal wire or have flexible bindings.

Hopefully they can be that pair of crampons that goes with everything :)
